Looking for information on James Snipes, 10th SC Infantry, supposedly killed at Franklin

Seeking information on James Snipes from Marion County, SC.  Reportedly killed in Battle of Franklin ?  Reports say he was brought home to SC for burial, but that seems doubtful to me.  I did not see him listed as buried in the cemetery in Franklin.  Reportedly 10th Regiment from SC.   Phil Snipes | snipeph[at]gmail.com

The 1860 census shows a James Snipes from Chesterfield Co, SC; age 22.  He would be of military age of course.

  1. Cathy C. says:

There are 27 pages of service cards for Pvt. James Snipes of CO L, 10 SC INF on Fold3. He enrolled at “White’s Bridge” 30 Sep 1861, and the Muster-in Roll at Camp Marion was dated 13 Oct 1861. He was 27 years old. P. 9 has the remarks: “Wounded in battle 25 Nov 1863. Sent to Hospital.” The last page is a Special Requisition dated 29 Dec 1863 from a surgeon at a hospital in Atlanta for him to receive a pair of “Drawers” and a blanket, with the comment “Jas Snipes is absent from his command.” I’m sorry; that’s all I can find there.
