Samuel Luckie Knox, Major, 1st Alabama Infantry

Born about 21 Mar 1840, parents were Dr. James C. Knox and Mary Jane Bowie of Talladega, AL. His brother, Alexander Bowie Knox, was in the 1st AL INF Regiment for the first 12 months of service, then joined the 42nd AL. He was a Captain of Co. G, and was mortally wounded at Corinth, and later died on 29 Jan 1863.

He was either killed during battle of Franklin or wounded & captured, then died??  Some reports say killed while leading the regiment during battle, others say wounded/captured.

Relationship: 1st cousin 4x removed
