Timothy McGee, Pvt, Co E, 97th Ohio Infantry

He enlisted at the age of 33 on August 7, 1862 in Zanesville, OH and mustered out with the company on June 10, 1865 in Nashville, TN. When he entered the military he left a wife and four children and following the war he fathered two more children.

He survived Franklin serving outside the formal fortification with Wagner’s Division just west of the Columbia Pike and retreated with the unit to engage in the Battle of Nashville.

He was my Great Great Grandfather. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Zanesville, OH with a military marker inscribed with his name, military unit and the dates 1829-1883

My surviving family members had no previous knowledge of Tim and thus there are no written document, nor photos.
