Benjamin Harrell, 20th Mississippi Infantry

My great, great grandfather, Benjamin Harrell fought in the 20th Mississippi Infantry and participated in this battle as a 16 year old boy.

This man, my great, great grandfather, Benjamin Harrell – 20th Infantry Mississippi CSA – he was just 17 years old and a veteran of several battles in Mississippi, Tennessee and Georgia – he survived to live another 29 years – raised a family in Falkner, Mississippi. He was pressed into service at Corinth as a litter bearer. It is hard for me to imagine a teenaged man in those circumstances.
